Your ORS post-award administrator can help you prepare your request and make sure it travels through the proper channels and sequence of approvals.

The most commonly requested award changes are the following:

• Change of project personnel
• Change of scope of work
• Project transfers
• Cost transfers
• Budget revisions
• Extensions to the end date of the project

Project Changes Checklist

To determine whether a proposed change is permissible:

• Review the terms and conditions of the specific award notice
• Check sponsor’s general terms and conditions and any referenced regulations, laws, guidelines and agreement manuals
• Ensure changes are consistent with project objectives and statement of work, and document this information
• Review agency requirements
• Review Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circular A-21: Cost Principles for Educational Institutions: Section J
• Discuss the proposed change(s) with your post-award administrator

Other Project Changes

Sponsor approval may be required for the following changes as well:

• Adding human subjects or animals if a change in scope
• Foreign travel
• Equipment procurement
• Title to supplies
• More than 90 day pre-award costs
• Additional funding
