This responsibility is described in the IBC Procedure Manual 2019. The UMKC IBC is the IBC-of-record for research at affiliated Kansas City institutions, including Children's Mercy Hospital, Saint Luke's Hospital, and Truman Medical Center. The IBC and its Biosafety Officers (BSOs) are responsible to evaluate and monitor research and teaching at UMKC and the affiliated institutions for biological safety considerations.

We are looking for community members to serve on UMKC's Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC). By federal regulations, the IBC must have 2 members who are not affiliated with the University.
